Grace Covenant Church is a local congregation of people from a variety of backgrounds, bound together by a common bond – we have been saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
The words “Grace” and “Covenant” reflect our belief that God’s with His people on the basis of grace and by way of a Covenant. The Bible teaches that all people are born with a sinful nature that makes them rebel against God. But God so loved the world that he sent Jesus Christ to save his people from their sins through his substitutionary death on the cross and to give them abundant life.
Grace
God is not obliged to save sinners, but does so freely out of sheer unmerited love and mercy. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV)
Covenant
God relates to His people by way of Covenant. That is, a Christian is someone whom the Lord has bound Himself to. Whilst salvation is never on the basis of works, the Christian seeks to live their life in conscious relationship to God, walking in accordance with God’s Word.
Church
The word “Church” in the Bible means “a people who are called out. ” At Grace Covenant Church we believe that we are a people that have been called out of darkness and into God’s marvelous light to declare his praises to a lost world.
Grace Covenant Church is a Presbyterian Church. The word Presbyterian comes from the biblical Greek word presbuteros, which means elder. The Bible teaches that God raises up elders to shepherd the flock under the authority of the Lord, the Good Shepherd.
